Guttenberg Castle is a ruined rock castle perched on the Schlossberg hill, within the Mundat Forest, close to the French border in Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded as an imperial stronghold under the Hohenstaufen dynasty, it was destroyed in 1525 during the German Peasants' War and never rebuilt. What remains today is fragmentary: part of the keep, sections of the outer wall, building foundations and a gate. The main draw now is the open view over the Mundat Forest and the Rhine plain from the rocky summit.
