This 15th-century fortress belonged to the du Plessis de Richelieu family, including the cardinal himself, who held the title of marquis du Chillou before inheriting the estate. Visitors can see a fortified gatehouse flanked by machicolated turrets and a massive corner tower later turned into a dovecote, while underground galleries are known to run beneath the courtyard.
