The Château des Puits stands at Gourdon, in Saône-et-Loire, built on medieval foundations reshaped during the 17th and 18th centuries. Around an enclosed courtyard where an old granite-rimmed well remains, the main house is flanked by two round towers, one holding a spiral staircase, the other a dovecote. A vaulted wing topped by a bell-gable and a disused chapel complete the group, set within a garden and a wooded park. A private property, the château is not open to visitors.
