What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château des Bordes à Pontlevoy tel qu'il nous apparaît actuellement est le fruit de l'adaptation architecturale aux modes de vie et d'habitat qui se sont succédés pendant trois voire quatre siècles. En 1763, M. de la Ponce achète le domaine et entreprend d'important travaux pour agrandir autant que pour améliorer et mettre au goût de l'époque sa nouvelle demeure. Il fait alors appel à un architecte de renom, Louis-Denis Le Camus. Un autre corps de bâtiment est alors édifié en face de celui qui existait déjà, puis le corps central du château actuel est élevé pour réunir les deux bâtiments qui constituent des ailes de retour. Au 19e siècle sont construit un escalier d'apparat et une galerie de communication. Décor néo-Rocaille du 19e siècle.
