In the village of Artannes-sur-Indre, this castle takes its name from the archbishops of Tours who turned it into a pleasure residence from the 15th century onward, built by the riverside facing the village church. Two archbishops, Hélie de Bourdeilles and Christophe de Brillac, died here, their coats of arms still carved on a gateway. The main building, flanked by two towers and covered by an inverted ship's-hull roof frame, was altered in the 19th century but kept its carved window lintels.
