To make a day of it
Château de Trenqueléon stands in Feugarolles (Lot-et-Garonne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Trenqueléon castle, located in Lot-et-Garonne, displays a 15th-century tower on its southern wall and underwent significant transformation in the 18th century. Charles de Batz-Trenqueléon completed the work around 1771 for Elisabeth de Malides, a figure of the royal court. The interior courtyard opens onto a raised terrace decorated with a mosaic of pebbles, flanked by two pavilions with four-sloped domed roofs and stepped details, framed by a triangular portico. Outbuildings fully enclose the entrance court. The property gained prominence through its connection to the Institute of the Daughters of Mary, founded in 1804 by Adèle de Batz-Trenqueléon, great-granddaughter of the estate owner, which became the source of the worldwide feminine Marianist congregation.
