Château de Mongaillard stands in Montgaillard-en-Albret (Lot-et-Garonne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The ruins of the Château de Mongaillard stand on the commune of Montgaillard-en-Albret, overlooking the road linking Xaintrailles to Vianne. What remains today dates from the late 12th or early 13th century: a section of the keep with the base of its spiral staircase, two vaulted rooms stacked one above the other, and a fragment of the residential quarters still showing traces of twin windows. The site is a reminder that an entire village was once enclosed within the walls of this stronghold, whose thickness reached one and a half metres and whose height rose to eight or ten metres.
