What the French Ministry of Culture records

Les propriétaires de la seigneurie sont connus depuis le 15e siècle. La seigneurie elle-même est citée dès 1172. En 1459, Jean d'Appelvoisin aurait obtenur de Louis XI l'autorisation de fortifier Thiors. L'édifice s'inscrit dans une vaste enceinte rectangulaire, cantonnée de tours. A l'ouest se trouve un parc et, à l'est, une cour avec des bâtiments de communs. Un corps de logis rectangulaire, restauré au 19e siècle, est assorti au sud d'une tour ronde qui renferme une cheminée à décor peint du 16e siècle, ainsi que des poutres peintes.
