Château de Thil stands in Vic-sous-Thil (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Set on a wooded hilltop overlooking the Serein and Armançon valleys, the ruins of Thil Castle bear witness to a medieval settlement documented as early as the start of the 11th century. The irregular polygonal enclosure, surrounded by a moat, still shows traces of a large outer courtyard where dwellings, a chapel and farm buildings once supported a self-sufficient way of life. Despite restoration work carried out in the 20th century, the remains still allow visitors to trace building phases spanning the 13th to the 16th century. Facing the castle on the same hilltop stands the collegiate church founded by Jean de Thil around 1340.
