What the French Ministry of Culture records

La terre de Barbirey dépendait de la baronnie de Marigny vers 1120, mais le château n'est pas cité avant 1633. En 1669, une visite de reconnaissance précise que le château est en ruine. Après 1829, construction d'un corps de logis auquel sont ajoutées deux ailes vers 1861. Un parc est aménagé en respectant le tracé de l'ancien potager.
