Perched on a rocky ridge above the village, the château de Mâlain is a former ducal stronghold founded around the year 1000 and remodelled in the 16th century. The site retains a Renaissance residential wing with a glazed-tile roof enclosing a watchtower dated to 1200, along with a monumental staircase cut into the rock and the remains of a medieval keep. Visitors can also see the ‘trou du Diable’, a cave inhabited since the Neolithic period, while restoration carried out by volunteers over several decades continues in plain view.
