To make a day of it

Château de Marigny-sur-Ouche stands in Saint-Victor-sur-Ouche (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The ruins of the château de Marigny-sur-Ouche, also known as château fort Saint-Maurice, stand on a wooded rocky spur above the village of Saint-Victor-sur-Ouche and the Ouche valley. This medieval fortress, built in the early 16th century by Christophe de Rochechouard on a much older fortified site, lost its roof and part of its walls as early as the 18th century, when its stones were taken to build the château de Barbirey. Visitors can still make out a large corner tower bristling with arrow slits, traces of a stair tower, a round tower, a hexagonal tower once used as a dovecote, and the remains of the residence and a chapel. The forest has largely reclaimed the site since an excavation campaign begun in 1992 was left unfinished.
