To make a day of it

Château de Temniac stands in Sarlat-la-Canéda (Dordogne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century). No visits are on record for this building.

On a height north of Sarlat-la-Canéda, the ruins of the Château de Temniac overlook the Périgord Noir and bear witness to nearly eight centuries of turbulent history. Owned by the bishops of Sarlat from the 14th century onward, the building was destroyed and rebuilt several times, through the Anglo-French wars, the Wars of Religion and the Fronde. What remains today is a quadrangular enclosure with corner towers, surrounding the 15th-century main structure and a castle chapel set against the southern wall.
