Château de La Boétie stands in Sarlat-la-Canéda (Dordogne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 16th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Set beside the road to Vitrac on the edge of Sarlat, this château owes much of its fame to a name: Étienne de La Boétie, Montaigne's friend, spent his childhood here. The building seen today actually dates from the rebuilding that followed a fire set by Protestant forces in 1589, and shows rustic stone walls under a roof partly covered with limestone slabs. It combines a rectangular main range flanked by round towers, a terrace, a circular dovecote and, across the road, a former mill on the Cuze stream.
