What the French Ministry of Culture records
Construction du château commencée par Louise de Montmorency dans la première moitié du 16e siècle. Aménagement du château achevé entre 1642 et 1650 par l'architecte Le Muet selon un plan symètrique en U. Les dépendances ont été élevées parallèlement aux travaux menés sur le château par le même architecte. L'ordonnance classique et régulière des trois bâtiments formant les communs complète l'ensemble bâti du château. La chapelle est un ancien lieu de pélerinage du 13e siècle, rebâti en 1832. Le parc a bénéficié de travaux hydrauliques importants donnant naissance au système de douves avec le canal.
