To make a day of it

Château de la Velle stands in Meursault (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

At Meursault, in the Côte-d'Or, the Velle fortified house stands on the east side of the road leading down toward the vineyards. The 16th-century group of buildings, towers, living quarters and outbuildings arranged around a courtyard, has belonged since 1973 to a family of winegrowers from Beaune who set up their winery there. Visitors can see a well that has kept its stone pulley frame, a bread oven and an old wine press housed in one of the buildings.
