In Meursault, the former stronghold has served as the town hall since the nineteenth century, topped with a roof of glazed Burgundian tiles. Of the fortress built in 1337 by Robert de Grancey, a square keep, mullioned windows, a stone staircase and a Renaissance fireplace remain. The building was dismantled twice, once on the orders of Louis XI in 1474 and again under Richelieu in 1633, before being altered repeatedly through the nineteenth century. Film fans may recognise it from a scene shot for La Grande Vadrouille in 1966.
