Sassangy castle stands in the hinterland of the Côte Chalonnaise, in Saône-et-Loire, surrounded by vineyards and pastureland. Originally the seat of a medieval lordship, it was given a lavish decor in the 18th century, then fell into neglect during the 19th century and came close to ruin. A full restoration in the 1990s brought back its classical character, and the estate, owned by the Musso family, now combines the historic building with organic winegrowing and farming.
