In Sarzay, in the Indre department, stands a fortified castle built at the end of the 15th century. Its rectangular layout flanked by four round corner towers, each containing a small hexagonal chamber, remains clearly visible in the structure today. Water-filled moats, a carved stone gateway, a fortified chapel and an outer courtyard are open to visitors, in a setting George Sand used as the backdrop for her novel Le Meunier d'Angibault.
