To make a day of it

Château de Saint-Jean-de-Chépy stands in Tullins (Isère), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Tullins, in the Isère department, this former fortified house dating from the 13th century still shows its square plan and twin towers, built on flat ground beside the Fure river rather than on a raised mound. The south tower holds an unusual feature: a 17th-century painted ceiling depicting the zodiac signs, commissioned by the scholar Maurice Bressieu. The surrounding ten-hectare grounds also display monumental sculptures set up outdoors during artists' symposiums.
