To make a day of it

Château de Rothenbourg stands in Philippsbourg (Moselle), in the Grand Est region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on a sandstone outcrop above Philippsbourg in the Moselle region, the ruins of Rothenbourg castle sit on a rocky spur at 400 metres of elevation. This medieval fortress carved into the rock was destroyed in the 14th century and has remained in ruins ever since. Visitors can still make out fragments of walls, rock-cut chambers, and traces of a cistern and a defensive ditch.
