What the French Ministry of Culture records
Montrozier fut la demeure des comtes de Rodez, leur première résidence hors de la ville. A la fin du 13e siècle, ils se fixèrent à Gages, château voisin. Au cours des troubles du 15e siècle, le routier Rodrigue de Villandrado y résida en 1431. En 1487, Louis XI concède Montrozier à Jean, bâtard d'Armagnac. En 1761, Montrozier est érigé en marquisat.
