Montrenard castle stands on the bank of the Jarnossin river, in Pouilly-sous-Charlieu, Loire department. Built at the end of the 14th century by the Montrenard family, it retains a quadrangular enclosure flanked by turrets and a square keep pierced with cross-shaped arrow slits, surrounded by a moat. Privately owned today by the Marquis d'Andigné, it is not open to visitors, though its defensive architecture can still be observed from the outside.
