Built in the thirteenth century, Château du Poyet stands on the plateau of Pouilly-sous-Charlieu in the Loire department. Long held by the Saix family, it passed to the Sainte-Colombe through marriage in the sixteenth century. Jean-Louis Eléonor de Sainte-Colombe undertook major renovations there in 1764 before facing a tragic end during the Revolution. The estate encompasses not only the main building but also its outbuildings, moats, terraces and period hydraulic systems.
