Château de Montclar stands in Saint-Georges-de-Montclard (Dordogne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: limite 15th century 16th century, fourth quarter of the 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Set on a mound once surrounded by moats, in Saint-Georges-de-Montclard in the Dordogne, Montclar castle retains a tall rectangular tower with mullioned windows, the sole surviving part of a residence built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. This tower, which stood at the southwest corner of the main building, made up a third of its length, and its 17th century cornice replaced earlier machicolations. The surrounding ruins still show the scale of the building before it was stripped of its stone during the Revolution and again in the 19th century. Local tradition links the site to a stay by Rabelais in the 1520s, and later to visits by Sarah Bernhardt and Paul Valéry.
