Le château se dresse sur une motte jadis entourée de fossés, site d'une première forteresse. A la Révolution, puis au 19e siècle, le château fut dépecé de ses charpentes et maçonneries. De l'édifice de la fin du 15e ou du début du 16e siècle, seul subsiste une haute tour rectangulaire qui occupe peut-être le site de l'ancien donjon. Cette tour est l'angle sud-ouest du corps de logis et en représente le tiers. Les vestiges à l'est témoignent du volume initial du château.
