Château de Montarnal stands in Sénergues (Aveyron), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 11th century, milieu 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Perched on a rocky spur above the Lot river, on the boundary between the Aveyron and Cantal departments, the ruins of Montarnal castle recall a stronghold built as early as the 11th century. Visitors can see a circular keep, uncommon in the Rouergue region, a lord's hall with twin-light windows, a defensive wall built against the rock, and a cave cut into the stone that once served as storage for goods passing through the valley. The site stood along a former route to Santiago de Compostela, at a stop where wood, wine and salt were traded.
