What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le château est un bon exemple des petits châteaux fortifiés construits dans le Centre, sur le même plan carré cantonné de tours. Tours et corps de logis s'élèvent à la même hauteur et comportent trois étages au-dessus de salles basses voûtées. La façade nord-ouest a été marquée par un mur construit en avant de cette dernière pour pouvoir loger un escalier dans l'intervalle. Le corps de logis comporte une pièce à chaque niveau, chacune comprenant une grange cheminée. Occupant le rez-de-chaussée de la tour est du château, la chapelle castrale est une pièce circulaire voûtée d'ogives. Chacun des quatre voûtains a conservé une peinture murale représentant un évangéliste. Les peintures, datées du 15e siècle, donnent une représentation originale du thème des quatre évangélistes (attributs surdimensionnés par rapport à leur taille ; Saint-Jean a des traits orientaux).
