Set at 779 metres on a limestone spur above the village of Capoulet, the château de Miglos overlooks the Vicdessos valley in the Ariège region. Its ruins date from an early 14th century rebuilding ordered by Bernard d'Usson, and still show a square keep over twenty metres high, a north west tower and the connecting walls. The site was once part of the defensive network of the county of Foix, tied to the history of the Inquisition and the siege of Montségur.
