To make a day of it

Château de Maison-Neuve stands in Tournon-Saint-Martin (Indre), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is not open to visitors.

The château de Maison-Neuve is a 15th-century manor house perched on a steep hillside above the Suin valley, in Tournon-Saint-Martin in the Indre department. Held by the du Montier family for more than three centuries, it owes part of its reputation to a local tradition claiming that Joan of Arc spent a night there in 1429, giving the house its nickname of Maison de Jeanne. The building still holds monumental fireplaces, an old roof structure dated through dendrochronology, and traces of a dovecote within its walls. It is currently a private property not open to visitors.
