To make a day of it

Château de La Côte-Saint-André stands in La Côte-Saint-André (Isère), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 17th century, 19th century). No visits are on record for this building.

Standing on a rise above the medieval market hall, this castle traces back to a 13th century fortress built for the House of Savoy, though the building seen today dates mostly from the early 17th century. A wide staircase leads up from the old town center, and inside visitors find the so called Louis XI hall, with its monumental fireplace, coffered ceilings and a grand staircase with a balustraded rail. The inner courtyard hosts part of the annual Berlioz festival concerts.
