Kerfily castle stands in Elven, in the Morbihan department, on a rise overlooking the Arz valley for miles around. Built in the mid-19th century by Armand de Charette, it replaced two earlier buildings that had both burned down. Visitors can see a gatehouse topped with pyramid-shaped battlements and a 17th-century dovecote, the only remains of the earlier estate, along with a private chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart. A century-old park of some twenty hectares surrounds the property.
