In Locmaria-Grand-Champ, in the Morbihan, the ruins of the Coët-Candec castle still trace the layout of a fortified residence built in the 13th century and reworked two hundred years later. Visitors can make out a double ring of walls and ditches, several towers including a polygonal stair tower on the east front, and the remains of a manor house once held by the Chohan family and later the La Bourdonnaye. Left derelict for decades, the site is now the subject of a restoration effort led by a local association.
