In Plumelec, in the Morbihan region, the Château de Callac shows its wing flanked by four round towers on a site occupied since the early Middle Ages. The current building, reworked between the 15th and 17th centuries, retains a great hall with a painted ceiling and old wood panelling. The place went through the French Revolution and then the last war, serving as a rallying point for the resistance fighters of the Saint-Marcel maquis. Visitors mostly get to see the grounds from outside, as the building itself opens only on rare occasions.
