To make a day of it

Château de Grisy stands in Vendeuvre (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century, first quarter of the 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

In Vendeuvre, in the Dives valley, the château de Grisy has stood with its limestone and Caen stone façades since the late 16th century. The right wing dates from the reign of Henri II, while the main façade and the entrance door bear the stamp of the 17th and early 18th centuries. The estate went through the turmoil of the Wars of Religion and the French Revolution, each time forcing its owners to flee, before remaining in a single family for more than a century. A wrought iron staircase, a pool and a pond complete the grounds, visible from the large meadow facing the building.
