What the French Ministry of Culture records
La forme actuelle de ce château n'est pas antérieure à la fin du 16e siècle. Il a été agrandi au 17e siècle pour la Grande Mademoiselle, puis profondément remanié pour Louis-Philippe par l'architecte Fontaine. De nouveaux remaniements ont été réalisés par Eugène Viollet-le-Duc à partir de 1873 pour le comte de Paris. La moitié sud a été détruite par un incendie en 1902.
