Le château actuel de Fournils a été bâti entre 1858 et 1860 à l’emplacement d’un ancien château désormais disparu mais dont subsistent certaines dépendances. La famille des propriétaires actuels l’acquière en 1913. Le domaine a servi d’hôpital militaire pendant la Grande Guerre et comporte également un domaine agricole important, notamment reconnu pour son vin produit selon une méthode champenoise. Le château fait actuellement office de résidence secondaire, les dépendances ayant été pour la plupart converties en habitations appartenant aux membres de la famille des propriétaires du château.
