In Saint-Papoul, in the Aude department, the château de Ferrals combines the remains of a medieval stronghold with a residence built in the 16th century by François Ier de Rogier. At the end of a parkland path stand the ruins of a 14th and 15th century castle, including the so called Queen Marguerite tower, square at ground level and round above. The grounds also keep traces of a moated, crenellated fortress flanked by six towers, with a chapel set into one of the corner towers.
