To make a day of it

Château de Darney stands in Darney (Vosges), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 15th century, second quarter of the 18th century, second quarter of the 19th century). No visits are on record for this building.

In Darney, in the Vosges, this building erected in 1725 on the foundations of a medieval castle destroyed during the Thirty Years' War long served as a town hall before becoming a site of Franco-Czechoslovak remembrance. Two museums can now be visited inside: one tracing the birth of Czechoslovakia, proclaimed in this town in June 1918, the other devoted to the singer Damia. A spiral staircase set in a turret and a ceremonial hall decorated with the coats of arms of glassmakers from Bohemia echo the vanished medieval keep.
