To make a day of it

Château de Cornillon stands in Saint-Paul-en-Cornillon (Loire), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Château de Cornillon stands in Saint-Paul-en-Cornillon, in the Loire department, built directly onto the rock that still shows through inside the building. Dating from the 17th century, it retains a spiral staircase ending in a carved palm-shaped newel, along with a kitchen featuring a monumental fireplace beneath a French-style ceiling. The reception rooms keep their wall panelling, frescoes, period wallpaper and a caryatid-decorated fireplace in the dining room. The garden holds two dovecotes, and the outbuildings still contain vaulted cellars and a fully equipped forge.
