Standing at the heart of the Breton town that bears its name, this granite château has eleventh-century origins, when an archbishop of Dol had it built for his brother. Four round towers topped with conical roofs, crenellated walls and carved machicolations give it the silhouette of a fortress, largely unchanged despite nineteenth-century restorations. The Chateaubriand family acquired it in 1761, and the writer spent part of his youth here, an episode covered during the guided tour. The surrounding park can be explored freely, in addition to the guided visit of the rooms.
