What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le site abritait, à l'origine, une motte féodale située à l'emplacement de l'ancien château, dont il ne reste aujourd'hui qu'un pavillon, et aurait été l'oeuvre des seigneurs de Langan au 11e siècle. Aux 14e et 15e siècles, Lanrigan est une place forte dont il subsiste un pavillon archaïque ainsi que la partie nord du château actuel (16e siècle) , avec son système de défense (tour à mâchicoulis et créneaux couverts). La reprise du 16e siècle concerne les façades Est et sud, ainsi que diverses ouvertures dans le pavillon médiéval situé à l'est du château. La façade ouest a été remaniée au début du 20e siècle. Le vocabulaire décoratif est essentiellement gothique.
