What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le château de Civray a remplacé un édifice plus ancien. Il a été édifié en 1715 pour le tourangeau Louis Lhomme de La Pinsonnière. Les plans auraient été établis par Germain Boffrand pour un premier projet de Montgeoffroy en Anjou. Il a été remanié sous la Restauration et prolongé par deux petits pavillons. La propriété, située à l'est du village, close de murs, couvre quatre hectares. Un jardin régulier précède le château orienté nord-sud, deux terrasses dominent au sud un parc paysager, arrêté en contrebas par le remblai de la voie ferrée. Dans le parc, une crypte abrite le caveau familial. L'angle nord-est de la propriété est occupé par la cour des communs, datés de 1635.
