What the French Ministry of Culture records
Des vestiges importants de la forteresse du 12e siècle sont constitués par d'épaisses murailles en opus spicatum qui furent conservées et utilisées au 15e siècle, lors de la reconstruction du château. Du côté méridional se dresse un donjon carré, reconstruit à plusieurs époques, comme en témoignent les reprises. La base est du 13e siècle, le sommet du 15e. La porte en tiers-point aujourd'hui remplacée par une baie, était défendue par un pont-levis et par une bretèche. A l'est du donjon, la chapelle dont le mur sud date du 13e siècle, fut refaite au 15e. Une cheminée indique qu'elle fut utilisée comme habitation. Au nord-est du château s'ouvre dans une tranchée, la porte en tiers-point de souterrains dont la profondeur donne une idée de l'étendue de la forteresse d'origine.
