What the French Ministry of Culture records

Chéniers fut le siège d'une sergenterie fieffée. Fortifié et entouré de douves, le château fut construit au 16e siècle et agrandi au 17e. L'édifice comprend un corps de bâtiment d'habitation du 16e, au comble éclairé de lucarnes amorties par un gâble sculpté, et divisées par des croisées de pierre. Les percements des deux façades ont été modifiés au 17e siècle. Il fut agrandi à cette époque par un pavillon ajouté au nord, qui fait saillie sur la façade Est. Une tour cylindrique appartenait à l'enceinte du 16e siècle et est reliée au château par un bâtiment de servitude moderne. La porte d'entrée dans la cour, en plein cintre, est ouverte dans un pavillon carré accosté de petits bâtiments de servitudes, prolongés par des bâtiments modernes. A l'ouest de la cour est élevé un bâtiment de communs dont la porte en plein cintre est accostée de pilastres. Au sud-ouest se trouve un petit pavillon carré également du 17e siècle.
