In Albi, the Château de Cantepau stands in the district that now bears its name, a remnant of a once extensive estate belonging to the Delecouls, a leading consular family of the city. Built of brick, the rectangular main building is flanked by two round towers and topped with a moulded brick cornice running beneath the roofline. Inside, visitors can still find a rustic kitchen fireplace, a staircase with arches and groin vaults, and two rooms retaining their French-style ceilings along with ornate fireplaces, one bearing a double coat of arms, the other decorated with stucco musical instruments.
