To make a day of it

Château de Bridoré stands in Bridoré (Indre-et-Loire), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century). Adult admission costs 12 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Bridoré, in the Indre-et-Loire, stands a fortress built in the 14th and 15th centuries for the Boucicaut family and later raised higher under Imbert de Batarnay, advisor to the kings of France. The keep, some thirty metres tall, overlooks a defensive system of pentagonal caponiers said to be unique in France. The site was never besieged and has remained in the same family, who still live there and look after its upkeep. Visitors can also see the remains of a medieval bathhouse and a chapel that has lost its vault.
