What the French Ministry of Culture records

En 1849, le duc d'Uzès fait construire à Bonnelles un nouveau château, confortable et moderne, selon les plans de l'architecte Joseph-Antoine Froelicher. Le château offre de nombreuses références historiques avec l'emploi de la brique et de la pierre, de cuirs, de médaillons, de baies en plein cintre ainsi qu'un parement en meulière ocre jaune et ocre brun. Il est composé, à l'origine, de deux bâtiments dissymétriques reliés par une serre adossée à une galerie. A partir de 1933, il sera vendu à deux reprises pour devenir, en 1966, le collège Charles de Foucauld. Il passera par la suite de mains en mains puis sera progressivement laissé à l'abandon.
