In Labarthe-Bleys, in the Tarn department, the château de Bleys stands on the site of an old village stronghold first recorded in the 15th century, around which the settlement itself once clustered. Built around a square inner courtyard enclosed by four wings and flanked by a tower, the building seen today owes its present shape to 19th century alterations. The heavy double door opening onto the vaulted passage still recalls its defensive past, before the house became, under the Faramond family, a residence surrounded by terraced gardens.
