Its architect combined Gothic, Renaissance and Anglo-Norman influences on a Louis XIII-inspired base, giving the front elevation a Tudor-like appearance. Occupied by German forces during the Second World War, a concrete observation post from that period still stands nearby, and the interior was renovated after the estate was split up in 1986.
