To make a day of it
Château d'Arques stands in Arques (Aude), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
West of the village of Arques, in the Corbières hills, stands a fortified house built at the turn of the 14th century by the Voisins family, on land granted after the Albigensian Crusade. The site combines a near square enclosure, flanked by two well preserved residential towers, with a 25 metre keep counted among the notable works of Gothic military architecture in the region. Visitors can still see the armorial gated entrance with its machicolation, the stacked vaulted rooms and the defensive features at the top of the tower.
